I am a Psychologist with more than 20 years of diverse professional experience, in areas including clinical work, psychological assessment, research, teaching, administration, marketing, and program evaluation. Currently I devote most of my time to being a psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, consultant, and trainer. I am a Certified Trainer of Neuro-Semantics, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Ericksonian Hypnosis. I have been trained in state-of-the-art change methodologies to help people grow and to actualize their potentials. The tools offered by these fields are broadly applicable to personal growth, relationship enhancement, personal effectiveness, psychotherapeutic change, systemic efficiency, and in just living effectively. These skills are also valuable in business to promote effectiveness, productivity, and cooperation. My passion is teaching these powerful tools so many can benefit.
I value scholarly and empirical examination of psychotherapy and change interventions, such as hypnosis, NLP, and Neuro-Semantics. While earning my Ph.D. (in Clinical Psychology, 1988) from DePaul University, I was actively involved in research; authoring or coauthoring seven peer reviewed journal articles in areas including behavioral analysis, community psychology, and social psychology. Currently I am Director of Organizational Communications for the NLP Research and Recognition Project (nlprandr.org) and a member of the research committee. Many NLP processes are clinically effective therapeutic tools that warrant broader acceptance and utilization. This will only be fully realized when research validates what the experience of NLP practitioners has demonstrated, the utility of NLP strategies to facilitate change and symptom relief.
As a Consultant and Trainer, workshops, seminars, and presentations are offered to the public and for community organizations, agencies, mental health professionals, and business. Topics including effective communication, self-enrichment, transforming your meanings, accessing your best self, abundance, personal change, effectiveness, motivation, and systemic ecology are options. For mental health professionals, trainings are offered in Ericksonian Hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Neuro-Semantics as a cognitive therapy, and brief psychotherapy. Many of the skills we teach (such as rapport, the effective use of language, and changing personal meanings) that are applicable in psychotherapy of any orientation. They are also useful in many contexts beyond therapy, including coaching, individual consultation, and in groups and organizations. More information on this is available throughout this web site.
Life Effectiveness & Achievement Planning (LEAP) consultations are also available. The focus here is on enhancing skills, boosting motivation, success strategies, and modifying behaviors and cognitions that limit effectiveness and achievement. Phone consultations are available for this service. See Articles link for more information.
As a Psychotherapist, I utilize solution focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, neuro-linguistic interventions, neuro-semantic processes, hypnotherapy, eye-movement integration (TM), and other strategies to help positive change happen. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Problems addressed include anxiety, depression, marital issues, behavioral addictions, self-control issues, stress management and other concerns. Psychological evaluations, forensic evaluations, and psychological testing are also specialties. See our separate web site, for Pathfinder Counseling & Psychological Services, here.
